The Chancellor visits Scholars’ Reception

The annual Scholars' Reception took place on 21 March in the grounds of Trinity College.  Guests were able to bask in the sunshine on the river bank, outside the marquee that had been erected for the occasion.

Scholars mingled with senior guests from around the University and from amongst the Trusts' funding partners.

The highlight of the event was the visit of both the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the University.  During a ceremony that morning in the Senate House the Chancellor, Lord Sainsbury of Turville, had been formally installed, and his attendance at the Trusts' event was his first public engagement in the University.

He and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, chatted with guests, and the Chancellor made a short speech in which he paid tribute to international students in Cambridge, and expressed the hope that they would take with them into their future careers the knowledge and experience gained whilst studying here.
