Welcome for new international Scholars

On 12 October the Trust held a welcome event for their new scholars.

The aim of the event was to greet the students who had just arrived in Cambridge with scholarships from the Trust, to give them an opportunity to meet other scholars, and to give them further information about the work of the Trust and about life in Cambridge.

The students were able to chat informally with Trustees, Trust staff and with senior representatives of the University.

In his address, Sir Martin Harris, Chair of the Trustees, welcomed all the new students coming to Cambridge from many world regions and cultures to work in a wide range of academic disciplines.

Professor John Rallison, the University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and a Trustee, highlighted the importance of international students to the University and the variety of overlapping communities to which each student belongs.  He outlined the experience that students can expect from Cambridge and the great rewards they will receive.

Helen Pennant, the Trust’s Director, congratulated the scholars on their success in gaining highly-competitive scholarships and thanked the Trust’s many funding partners, noting in particular those here in Cambridge, especially the University, Trinity College and Cambridge Assessment.
