Stormzy Scholarship announced

The Cambridge Trust is delighted that it will be offering the Stormzy Scholarships for black UK Students.

An announcement was made today by the University of Cambridge that British musician Stormzy will be funding two scholarships to black UK students who are admitted to the University of Cambridge for undergraduate study in October 2018, with a further two being in awarded in October 2019.

The four scholarships, which are non-repayable and will be awarded to students from low income and/or disadvantaged backgrounds, will cover the full cost of University tuition fees and provide a maintenance grant.

Tenable for up to four years of undergraduate study, the scholarships will be worth £18,000 a year to each of the scholarship winners.

Helen Pennant, Director of the Cambridge Trust, said "I am delighted about this new opportunity for British black students.  Throughout its 30 year history the Trust has been firmly committed to ensuring diversity at Cambridge.  This generous gift from Stormzy and YouTube Music is an important contribution, removing the financial barriers for four students to attend Cambridge who otherwise would have found it difficult".

Applications are now open and close at midday (UK time) on Friday 31 August 2018.

Successful applicants will still be eligible for a Cambridge Bursary of up to £3,500 in the form of an annual gift, provided their eligibility criteria do not change during the course of study.
