Mr P.M. Belliappa visits Cambridge

Mr P.M. Belliappa, son of the late Pemanda Monappa, a distinguished and highly decorated officer of the Indian Police establishment, visited Cambridge this week to undertake research at the Centre for South Asian Studies.

In March last year, Mr Belliappa generously set up in perpetuity The Pemanda Monappa Scholarship, in memory of his late father, co-funded by the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and available to outstanding Cambridge applicants from Southern India wishing to undertake a Master's course in selected subjects.

During his stay in the city, Mr Belliappa took the opportunity to visit the University Library where he presented Mrs Anne Jarvis, University Librarian, with a copy of the first volume of a trilogy on 'Madras, that is now Chennai', which he has co-authored.
