PhD Summer Party
The Trusts held their first summer party for PhD students yesterday at King's College. The event gave scholars who are remaining in Cambridge during the summer months a chance to meet and chat, with each other and with staff and Trustees. Conversations covered many topics - work, research successes and set-backs, life in Cambridge, travel plans, summer weather in the UK, and (inevitably) the Olympics.
About 250 students from 43 different countries were able to attend, and the weather was kind - although the party started in the Hall, guests were able to move out onto the Back Lawn and enjoy both the sunshine and the splendid setting.
Musical background was supplied by a trio from the Cambridge Jazz Co, resplendent in traditional striped blazers. The general opinion of the party was that this should become an annual event!
