Aker Scholarship for Norwegian students

The Cambridge Trust is delighted to announce a new programme of scholarships for Norwegian students at the University of Cambridge: the Aker Scholarships.

The Aker Scholarship supports Norwegian top students so that they can learn from the best in the world, independent of their family or financial situation. Scholarships are awarded to students in all fields of study. The scholarship was established last year, and its aim is to give talented and ambitious young Norwegian students the opportunity to gain knowledge, inspiration and experience by taking postgraduate degrees at the world's leading universities.

The new scholarship programme will support Masters and PhD students at universities in the UK (Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College), the USA (Caltech, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Pennsylvania) and Singapore (NUS).

The scholarships are available for students wishing to study for Masters or PhD degrees in any subject and at any College within Cambridge.  The first awards will be made shortly, for the academic year 2016-17.

The Aker Scholarship was established by the 'Anne Grete Eidsvig and Kjell Inge Røkke Charitable Foundation for Education’ in cooperation with Aker ASA, a listed Norwegian industrial investment company in which the Røkke family owns a majority stake.  Aker’s ownership interests are concentrated in the fields of oil and gas, maritime assets, seafood/marine biotechnology and real estate.
