The Wolfson Foundation

The Wolfson Foundation is a charity awarding grants to support and promote excellence in the fields of science and medicine, the arts and humanities, education and health and disability.

The Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities programme supports research students at a number of carefully selected universities. The initiative reflects the Foundation's concerns about funding for the humanities and the potential impact of increased undergraduate student debt on postgraduate studies. Its aim is thus not only to support some of the most exciting students, but also to make a statement about the value of the humanities; it believes that high quality academic research in this field is of critical importance to British society.

The scholarships are awarded in three disciplines: history, literature and languages. Wolfson Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate the potential to make an impact on these fields and to be future academic leaders.
