Jusoor Cambridge Scholarship

The Jusoor Cambridge Scholarship is open to Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian applicants for Masters study residing in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Türkiye, Egypt and Iraq. Any subject will be considered, but preference may be given to applicants studying Engineering, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Development and Sustainable Developments. It is tenable at any College.

This scholarship is not available for MBA or MFin courses.

Conditions

  • Candidates must:
    • be Syrian (including Palestinian with Syrian Travel Document), have lived continuously in Syria prior to the current crisis, and be currently living in Syria or one of its neighboring countries
    • require financial support in order to take up the offer of admission
    • show intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria
    • have a strong record of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience
    • be willing to remain engaged with Jusoor’s community
    • preferably not already have a master’s degree
  • Candidates are only allowed to apply to one Jusoor scholarship. If you apply to a second Jusoor scholarship, only your first application will be considered
  • If selected for the scholarship, the successful candidates will be required to sign the Jusoor Scholar contract. The main points of the contract are outlined below, and selected scholars can request to read the contract in full before accepting the award. The awardee agrees:
    • To give Jusoor permission to use their name, photographs and biographies on Jusoor’s website, social media and in publications
    • To make efforts to attend online and in-person events when requested by Jusoor
    • To submit a form provided by Jusoor each term to provide academic updates
    • To agree that to the best of their ability, they will use the knowledge and skills gained through this scholarship to support the development of Syria
    • To maintain good academic standing
    • Not to serve as an official representative of any government and not to engage in activities of public nature that are likely to affect Jusoor negatively, while receiving funding from Jusoor
  • The scholarship is intended to support only the scholar. Due to limited resources, Jusoor and the Trust cannot provide any financial or relocation assistance for family, including help with visa arrangements

No separate application is required for this scholarship, only the application for admission to the University of Cambridge, which must be submitted by the funding deadline specific to your course (please refer to the Postgraduate Course Directory)

Jusoor

Jusoor is an NGO of Syrian expatriates supporting the country’s development and helping Syrian youth realise their potential through programmes in the fields of education, career development, and global community engagement.

The Jusoor Scholarship Program enables Syrian youth to continue academic study and attain an education that will be essential to their futures as well as to the future of Syria. Jusoor has supported students in the USA, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East through full and partial funding and university partnerships. Students pursue different degree levels and academic fields of study, and a growing number of alumni benefit from mentoring and professional development opportunities.

Since 2015, Jusoor has partnered with the Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust (CCEIT) to offer fully-funded master-level scholarships across a wide variety of disciplines. Three scholarships have been awarded to date. Awardees are committed to the redevelopment of Syria.
