(NEEDS NEW IMAGE) Cambridge Trust alumna builds a promising political career in Ukraine

Alona Shkrum completed a Masters of Law (LLM), specialising in International Law, at Trinity Hall, the University of Cambridge.
Since graduating, she has gone on to become a Member of Parliament in her native Ukraine, and is regarded as a prominent human rights activist and public figure.
Before joining Cambridge, Alona graduated from the Institute of International Relations at the National University of Kiev and was also a research student at Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University.
She took full advantage of the extracurricular activities available at Cambridge University, as an active Member of the Committee of the Graduate Law Society and Entertainments Officer at Trinity Hall MCR, as well as part of the Cambridge University Ukrainian Society and the Cambridge University Gliding Club.

Alona was awarded a Pegasus placement which she took up at the end of her LLM, during which she was a scholar of the Inns of Court and a pupil at 1 Pump Court Chambers, Blackstone Chambers, 3 New Square Chambers and Southwark Crown Court with His Honor Judge Pegden. She was also an assistant at London Waterloo Free Legal Advice Centre.
Alona worked as a parliamentary assistant and was later elected to Ukraine's national parliament in 2014.
She has participated as a member of international inter-parliamentary groups and folllowing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she became a member of several parliamentary delegations, including with the UK Government.
