(NEEDS IMAGE) Cambridge marks the start of alumna's legal career in South Africa
Sarah Pudifin graduated from the University of Cambridge with an LLM and MPhil in Criminology.
She studied at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, between 2008-2010, gaining first an LLM and then an MPhil from the Departments of Law and Criminology respectively.
Sarah embraced all aspects of Cambridge life, playing violin in the Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra, with which she toured Italy in 2009, joining the College lacrosse, squash and rowing teams, actively participating in the College chapel, and embracing all the social and academic opportunities on offer.
The time I spent at Cambridge has enriched every aspect of my life and afforded me opportunities that would not otherwise have been available to me.
After graduating, Sarah returned to South Africa where she undertook pupillage to qualify as an advocate at the Durban Bar, with a particular interest in the constitutional and human rights issues surrounding the many socio-economic challenges in South Africa.
She has since appeared in both the Supreme Court of Appeal and Constitutional Court, as well as High Courts across South Africa. Sarah works in both private and public litigation, and has also contributed to the first book on South African law that focuses on Class Action litigation.
“I am very grateful to the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust for awarding me the status of Honorary Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholar,” says Sarah. “The time I spent at Cambridge has enriched every aspect of my life and afforded me opportunities that would not otherwise have been available to me."
