Shidharth came to Cambridge to carry a part of PhD research on “characterization of air pollutants and their effects on physic-chemical and morphological properties of some selected urban avenue trees of Kolkata, India”. 

He received a Commonwealth Cambridge Scholarship to fund his studies at Cambridge.  Shidharth is also a Research Fellow at UGC DAE Consortium for Scientific Research in Kolkata, in India, and would like continue his research after his PhD and commence teaching. 

Away from his studies, Shidharth likes photography and walking around the town, appreciating nature and the beautiful historic buildings.

When asked about Cambridge, Shidharth says ”The University of Cambridge is one of the best universities in the world.  It has produced many Nobel Laureates and is the best place to do research.  Cambridge is one of the most beautiful cities in England.  The gardens, river and the architecture are all mesmerizing.  It is peaceful, whilst at the same time the most happening place.  Given a chance I would love to stay here forever”.
